11/4/2011, Start on Monday Morning 1. day, São Paulo , 482km via Sorocaba,Capão Bonito, até Itapetininga Autostrada depois tudo serra e muitas curvas lindas. 2. day, Curitiba- Erechim, 490km, Stradas Brasileiras, duas pistas, pouco transito, chuva 3. Erechim, São Miguel das Missões, 330 km 2 dias de estadia 5. São Miguel das Missões, perto de Bompland km 380km, km1675 da viagem, Corrientes Argentina, Cruzamos em Uruguaina a fronteira, pegamos a Ruta14, 6. Uruguaiana para Buenos Aires, 590km, 2314km. 7-8- Visita city, troca de pneu furadoj Thats the link of this part of the trip Return, Volta Then we took the ferry from Buenos Aires to Montevideo, stayed day 10-11 and went on to La Coronilla, north of Uruguay on our way back. Googlemaps does not permit to plot this part of the trip for reasons unknown to me. 9. Montevideo to Chuy, border of Uruguay/Brasil 10. Chuy - Porto Alegre. 518km 11. Porto Alegre - Florianópolis 12. Florianópolis - São Paulo on the BR101 e Regis Bittencourt. Montevideo-São Paulo approx 2000km

.... Em barco da buquebus. Tres horas chegamos no lindo e aconchefante Montevideo que parece uma bela endormecida.

Fix da tire tony

A nossa virgem moto bmw foi tocado, violentado, sujado por um ferro que travessou tanto o perfil do peneu quanto a latrral. O borracheiro nem quis cosertar mas expliquei que não é opção de voltar 30km para uruguayania.
Agora andamos com pneu maisoumenos. Amanha vou ter que achar um bom gomeiro aqui em buenoa aires para fazer uma vulcanisação ou trocar o bicho.... Que era novo..e caro.... Que pena

Molhado e cansado na ruta14

É isso ai.. Após um pneu furado por um ferro enorme, chuvas e uns menores transtornos para obter a carta verde. Documento exigido para transitar no mercosul achamos bem no anoitecer um hotelzinho decente na beira da pista. O tempo tá piorando e ainda temos 500km nesta ruta14 que é uma m.... Um asfalto enrugado cheio de caminhões , sem acostamento. Ainda com a roda de traz pergurado com uma emenda maisoumenos... Fiquei tenso hoje.
Amanha buenos ayres...
Hoje sanuiche frio com aqua mineral...

Missões

This is what's left of the catedral o São miguel, one of the more important sites of the missões. The missios where a string of 7 jesuit missionary stations. Their history being a important and interesting example of a multicultural experiment. The jesuit priest came here in 1600 and treated the guarani indians as equals and in the 150 years to come the region flurished. The guarani proved to be good craftsmen and still some very few wooden statues are seen to tell the tale. However the portuguese and spanish crown did not like this development, part because it was set up by the jesuits, part because they liked their provinces to be just that... Their provinces!
The region changed hands from spain to portugal, the pope banned the jesuits and by 1750 all the settlements got eradicated and what could have become a good example of christianism became just another genocite.
Still the ruins are beautiful..

In an inn in erechim

Parece name of a kibbuz.... But its a city in rio grande do sul.
After tropical serras, wide river valleys and a high plateau that looked like scotland we decended to the valley of the rio paraguay which we crossed right at sunset. We sleept on the other bank and today will arrive in St ângelo, the main city of the brazilian missões.

Curitiba....

Depois de 500 km, são paulo, sorocaba, capão bonito, apiais, chegamos as sete da noite em curitiba. A strada foi simplesmente lindo, serras com curvas sem fim. Na verdade seguimos as partes sul da serra da mantiqueira. Tão bonita mas sem este toque mineiro e muito mas selvagem.

nuclear energy

even though I wrote my surprise about the problems which the earthquake in Japan brought over the Japanese and their nuclear powerplants I think that the press overstates the imporance and risk of this horrible accident. Reading all the news about it, it does still seem that nuclear energy is the most save and non polluting energy form. Even though the risks are existent and if something blows up you can measure it easily because of the advantage to have all the dirt and debris. However having all the dirt in one place is a big advantage when it comes to cleaning up the mess...as my cleaning woman tells me. The CO polluting effects are not so easily measured because they appear worldwide. Global warming and it's followers like hurricanes, floods, exessive rainfalls, draughts have surely killed much more people than Chernobyl (56 confirmed and up to 4000 in the next years due to Leukemia) and Fukushima (0 up to now..).
