I arrived here at nine o'clock. São Paulo after 12 hours of heavy rainfalls ( a cold-front hit the moist air of December tropical summer). My motorbike just said gourglsshsghurrropfff after the dirty water of the rio Tietês newest side arm had engulfed my two cylinders. I then pushed it to my factory building where I was the only person for another 5 hours until the first employees arrived.
A day like in war.
The only good thing are the São Paulo people. Everybody in a good mood. The worst it gets the more the people help each other. Nice experience.
After a day in soaked jeans we had cleaned the mess, lost nearly nothing of any value and now HOPE strongly that mother nature gives us a break.
São Paulo is built on the confluence of some small rivers which all have their springs in the cities perimeter. The whole area was always a swamp or a hillside.
With the growth of the city the problem got even worse and in my opinion this problem is bigger than any manmade construction to solve it. They dug out the river making it 9 meters deeper, they channeled it, they made huge intermediary "piscinões".
But.. when it rains....it pours, and in Sampa even more so.
